Wanted Extensions

  • Import extensions for several data sources, most important MS Word (or MS Word HTML export).
  • An extension to export to word. While using the Wiki to come to a collaborative document, in the end you would like to print it and put it in your corporations style. Word is excellent for that purpose (Sipke, 30 Jun 2005).
If I may I'd like to add that IMHO Word is not excellent for that purpose, because it is not a free format. I believe it is very important that our proposed solutions are not tied to any proprietary format or program. There are plenty of free formats we can use, like OpenOffice Write or, if you want some proprietary office program to be able to read it, RTF. If the document is only to be printed and not modified PDF should be fine. (grimborg, 01 Aug 2005)
The point is that millions of people use Word, and such an extension would be very useful to all those people. —Lowellian (talk) 19:14, August 3, 2005 (UTC)
RTF should be just as suitable. It works in Word, and is open.
  • Here's an Open Office Export extension.
  • More extensions like DynamicPageList that make it easier to include dynamic content on a frontpage for example.
  • Import/Conversion Extensions for making previously private contact publically editable (e.g. microsoft word, html, pdf, etc.) [2]
  • An extension that adds the ability to create polls that can be added to a page and then the votes can be displayed on the same page. This would be useful for users to vote on the quality of a book, for example. (Currently is m:User:Sent working on an implementation for supporting this)
  • Guestbook-functionality. Plain and simple.
  • More options in "discussion" so that it is more like a 'real' discussionforum (like IE IPB, vbulletin, etc) - or eventually integration with one of these popular forums.
  • An extension to allow the use of the tab key in textareas
  • An exstension that allows users to attach files to pages and then have the option of updating the file later.
